Hybrid Solutions

Three Solutions for Making Hybrid Work Amazing

1. Dual Facilitation

Challenge:

A big client of ours was creating a hybrid welcome back event at their Headquarters. The challenge was that not everyone would be there in person. There were 100 participants on campus and 300+ attending virtually. We needed to create a connection experience that would involve all 400 people at the same time.

Solution:

We used dual facilitators, two people in person and one person virtually. We delivered an experience called “Three Favorites” that built connections and gave people an innovation tool. It happened in the room and in the Zoom at the same time. After the experience, our facilitators co-delivered a short lecture and debriefed the breakouts.

2. Shark Walks

Challenge:

In January 2022, we facilitated a three-day leadership offsite for Google Brand Studio. We wanted to create specific moments of connection that felt different AND gave people a tool they could continue to use in the future. Plus, in a three-day event, you have to find ways to do different things that get people away from their screens.

Solution:

To create connection, we had the leaders go on Shark Walks, which are meetings done on the phone while walking outside (this experience is named after sharks that have to keep moving to survive). For an entire afternoon, we created a scheduled series of one-on-one 12-minute Shark Walks with the prompt: “What is the single most important thing the two of you need to talk about?” It was a big hit, because it was helpful and different.

“Thank you again so much for an amazing three day offsite! Shark walks were AMAZING! Already calls to do them more regularly."

- Natalie Miller, Strategy & Operations Leader, Google Brand Studio.”

3. Virtual Facilitation of In-Person Meetings

Challenge:

Like our client Uber, you probably want to have great in-person internal meetings, but for many reasons you can’t always fly in your favorite external facilitators.

Solution:

Get your team on-site like Uber did in Chicago, and have On Your Feet on Zoom facilitating virtually. Sounds crazy, but with Uber it worked amazingly. It allowed us to bring our best techniques to the group AND create moments where the team could be on their own. How? Just turn the screen off so the team can have candid and private conversations. And no travel costs!

It’s a New Frontier

At On Your Feet, we have always been about bringing more joy, less fear, and better results to the workplace.

Until March of 2020 it was 95% in-person work.

From March of 2020 until February of 2022 it was 95% virtual.

Now we are getting ready for the greatest challenge yet: hybrid.

These are just three of the solutions we have been developing for hybrid work to make you excel in this new world.

More Joy,
